Math - dot to dot project

This project was important because we were able to get a little experience to having to deal threw paying bills, handle taxes, and saving for future wantings. Moreover, it made me get an idea what I am going to go threw in the future. I really agree this project got me prepared on what I want to be when I grow up.

Romeo & Juliet vs West Side Story

West Side Story is differ than Rome & Juliet, because in R&J Romeo killed himself when he thought Juliet was really dead. But in W.S.S Tony went out to look for chino when he heard that Chino killed Maria, but Tony did not killed himself, Chino killed tony. Moreover, in Romeo & Juliet, Juliet killed herself when she saw Romeo had taken the poison and died. In W.S.S, Maria went sicko when she found out Tony was dead, so she did not kill herself.

Romeo and Juliet

After viewing the play Romeo and Juliet, I really like the story. It was very interesting and romantic. Romeo fought so hard to be with his true love. They meet in a party that Juliet's parents were having. It was love at first sight. It was funny and sad at times, and that really made it good. At the end Romeo end up drinking a potion with posin which killed him. Juliet felt awful and decided to stab herself in the stomach with a knife.

Young Love, Old Divisions

After reading, Young Love, Old Division, which was about a young black 14 year old named Lionel was in love with a 14 year old latina named Beatriz Chacon. But there school and there society where against it. In my opinion I feel that Lionel and Beatriz are going to last together because they really love each other.

I won $50,000.00 !!

In this project we were awarded $50,000.00f. But in order to be giving my winnings I had to write a proposal on what I was planning to buy with the money. What made this project a little difficult was that we couldn't donate or invest the money. I really enjoyed this project because it was cool getting to buy stuff with $50,000.00. If I were to do this project again I would buy other stuff, because I really focused on buying stuff for my car. In the other hand this project wasn't hard at all. It was mostly fun !

Back to the future !

Back to the future was a very exciting project! The point of the project was to find the cost of random items and compare the cost in 2009. After that we had to use percent change to determine the cost of the items in 2029. I really enjoyed working on this project because it was very easy and fun. More over, because me and my partner Victor both use teamwork, in order to complete this project. If we were to do this project over again, I would have been more prepared. This project was very important because how well we did would determine are grade.

The Day Before The Math Test.

I fell sort of scared :( about the math test tomorrow and Wednesday because its very important test, and it is important that I pass. I think I feel the way I do because it determines if i move on or stay in the 8th grade. Uhmm, i would appreciate if she would give projects. I am really look forward high school, because I feel like I am ready to approach new challenges. I feel that I need to improve my behavior in order to be successful in school. Three things I would like to accomplish by June 24th(Graduation), is one pass all my classes, two comprehend all my math standers, three to fix my behavior. :)

Poetry Response

Where I’m From

by Willie Perdomo

Where I’m from, it’s the late night scratch of rats’ feet that explains what my mother means when she says slowly, “Bueno, mijo, eso es la vida del pobre.” (Well, son, that is the life of the poor). / Where I’m from, it’s sweet like my grandmother reciting a quick prayer over a pot of hot rice and beans. Where I’m from, it’s pretty like my niece stopping me in the middle of the street and telling me to notice all of the stars in the sky.

From this poem I can infer that the little boy and his family are latin. The poet is feeling worried because, his mother told him that 'that is the life of the poor". The theme about this poem is that a little boy is probaly going thew some hard times. I some how can connect with this poem because I also am latin.

8th Grade State Math Test

Yes I am ready for the test next month, but I feel like I still have to keep working on some standards. I have been doing my homework and studing for like ten minutes every day. i think the topics i still need help in are percent algebra.

"Transformations - Conclusion"

Yes, I enjoyed this unit because we were able to move figures around. More over, I learned that a reflection is like when a figure is looking at itself in the mirrow. We can apply transformation in real life, for example for people that build houses and sidewalks they need to have an understanding of how figures move.

"Transformations - Rotations"

When we are drawing rotations, we turn the paper to get a look at were and how the figure is going to rotate. This will predict where and how the rotation will turn out because the figure moves around and makes it seem like the figure change quadriant. A rotated figure doesn't change in shape, size, but it changes location. A rotated figure differs from a reflection is when the figure for example is looking itself in the mirrow. If you would rotate a figure 90 degrees clockwise and then rotate it again 90 degrees counterclockwise you will end up were you started.
The figure will change quadriant. when you go clockwise you are goinh to the right but when going counterclockwise you are going the apposite.

"Transformations - Reflections"

A reflection is like a mirror image because, a reflection is to flip over a line of symmetry, you can reflect or flip a figure over any line. The figure under a reflection is a mirror image of the original figure, is like the figure is looking at itself in the mirror. The line that figures is flipped over, a line along which a figure can be folded so that the two figures match. Yes, because they have already giving you the points of the original figure. When we look at two figures we know which on is transformation because it has the (") on top of each letter, so it makes it prime.

Transformations - Dilations

The figure can grow larger, zooming out or the figure can grow smaller, zooming in. Zooming relates to dilations because a dilated figure will either get larger or smaller. If the scale is greater than (1) the figure will get larger,so for 0.5 the figure will get smaller, because is lower than (1). Dilations are differ from translations because a dilation is when you change a figure's size without changing in shape, but in the other hand translation is sliding a figure to a differ location. Multiplying by 1/3 is the same as dividing by 3 because, just as dividing by 3 is the same as multiplying by 1/3 and, dividing by 1/3 is the same as multiplying by 3, to divide by a fraction is the same as multiplying by its reciprocal.

Transformations - Translation

I will know which one is is the transformation, because the point will be represented with
an apostrophe. The new points are called prime. One word I would use to describe a translation
is sliding. translation occurs when a figure slides across a coordinate plane. A translated figure will never change its shape because "translation" the shape only moves its direction it never changes shape or orientation of a figure.

"Laws of Exponents part 1"

Yes, we can expand any variable with an exponent, because for example 2^4 is 2x2x2x2 which is 16.The exponent of the y is y^1. X times x is x^2, it is not x because with x times x you have two x^5 .Yes, 6^3 is the same as 6x6x6 which is 216.When you have an exponent is the same as that number times itself.

"Laws of Exponents part 2"

To square a number is to times a number by itself by two(^2).To cube a number is to times a number by itself by three(^3).They relate because your multiplying the number by itself by power.Example, 3^4= 3x3x3x3= 81 .the area could be 3 and you have 4 sides.

"Integral Exponents"

We can't simplify expressions that do not contain like terms, because you can't make it
smaller.X^2 and xy^2 are not like terms because they are not the same, one has a y in it.
No xy is not the same as xyz, because xy does not have z, and you can't combine them. The power of m^7 is m to the seven power. The base is the m.A negative base is the opposite of a positive, for example the negative of 6 is -6, the negative of x is -x.

Journal Entry 2: "Unlike Terms"

X is different than x^2, because they are different terms and one of them is squared.
Example you have a rat and a cow, you can not add both of them because they are two
different kinds of animals. We can combine terms that have the same exponent, because
they both have the same terms. Example you have two cow and then another cow shows
up, that means now you have three cows. They are called like terms, in order to add and subtract integers you need to circle the like terms.Yes 8m-2m is the same of 8m+-2m
because they have the same term which m.

"Like Terms"

The definition of like terms are terms with the same variable raised to the same power. 100p
and 300p are like terms, because we can combine them to get 400p. P and p2 are not like terms,
because we can't combine them, 1 is squared. We can't combine 2d+2f, because they have different variables. No an expression can not have an equal sign, because an equation does not equal.
