Poetry Response

Where I’m From

by Willie Perdomo

Where I’m from, it’s the late night scratch of rats’ feet that explains what my mother means when she says slowly, “Bueno, mijo, eso es la vida del pobre.” (Well, son, that is the life of the poor). / Where I’m from, it’s sweet like my grandmother reciting a quick prayer over a pot of hot rice and beans. Where I’m from, it’s pretty like my niece stopping me in the middle of the street and telling me to notice all of the stars in the sky.

From this poem I can infer that the little boy and his family are latin. The poet is feeling worried because, his mother told him that 'that is the life of the poor". The theme about this poem is that a little boy is probaly going thew some hard times. I some how can connect with this poem because I also am latin.

8th Grade State Math Test

Yes I am ready for the test next month, but I feel like I still have to keep working on some standards. I have been doing my homework and studing for like ten minutes every day. i think the topics i still need help in are percent algebra.

"Transformations - Conclusion"

Yes, I enjoyed this unit because we were able to move figures around. More over, I learned that a reflection is like when a figure is looking at itself in the mirrow. We can apply transformation in real life, for example for people that build houses and sidewalks they need to have an understanding of how figures move.

"Transformations - Rotations"

When we are drawing rotations, we turn the paper to get a look at were and how the figure is going to rotate. This will predict where and how the rotation will turn out because the figure moves around and makes it seem like the figure change quadriant. A rotated figure doesn't change in shape, size, but it changes location. A rotated figure differs from a reflection is when the figure for example is looking itself in the mirrow. If you would rotate a figure 90 degrees clockwise and then rotate it again 90 degrees counterclockwise you will end up were you started.
The figure will change quadriant. when you go clockwise you are goinh to the right but when going counterclockwise you are going the apposite.

"Transformations - Reflections"

A reflection is like a mirror image because, a reflection is to flip over a line of symmetry, you can reflect or flip a figure over any line. The figure under a reflection is a mirror image of the original figure, is like the figure is looking at itself in the mirror. The line that figures is flipped over, a line along which a figure can be folded so that the two figures match. Yes, because they have already giving you the points of the original figure. When we look at two figures we know which on is transformation because it has the (") on top of each letter, so it makes it prime.

Transformations - Dilations

The figure can grow larger, zooming out or the figure can grow smaller, zooming in. Zooming relates to dilations because a dilated figure will either get larger or smaller. If the scale is greater than (1) the figure will get larger,so for 0.5 the figure will get smaller, because is lower than (1). Dilations are differ from translations because a dilation is when you change a figure's size without changing in shape, but in the other hand translation is sliding a figure to a differ location. Multiplying by 1/3 is the same as dividing by 3 because, just as dividing by 3 is the same as multiplying by 1/3 and, dividing by 1/3 is the same as multiplying by 3, to divide by a fraction is the same as multiplying by its reciprocal.
